A great drama game to get your students’ creativity juices overflowing!
Game Type: Drama Game
Recommended Ages: 6 and up
Number Of Players: Whole class
Equipment Required: Nil
Where To Play: Indoors or outdoors
Duration: 10 minutes
Objective
To remain in the game for as long as possible.
Set Up
Designate the game space. A classroom or a third of a netball court is the perfect space.
How To Play
Step One: On ‘Go’, your students move around the game space pretending to be bees, buzzing and flapping their tiny insect wings.
Step Two: After a short time of buzzy warm up, announce a letter. For example, ‘The letter P’.
Step Three: Next, begin to count down from ten. During this time your students need to adopt the pose of something beginning with that letter. It can be a noun, verb, adjective, anything at all. For example, for the P letter you might be plump, pig, pleased, puffy, picky or pumpkin. On zero, your students must freeze on the spot.
Step Four: Now roam around the game space and ask each student in turn what they are. If two students say the same thing consecutively, they sit out the next round. This rule, though fierce, does drive creativity up to 11 on a scale of 1 to 10.
