My advice is … do exactly what they say!
Game Type: Study Break Game, Revision Game
Recommended Ages: 6 and up
Number Of Players: Whole class
Equipment Required: Blindfold (A sleep eye mask is perfect)
Where To Play: Indoors or outdoors Tip: The classroom is perfect
Duration: 10 minutes
Objective
To follow instructions to the letter and complete the mystery task.
How To Play
Step One: Sort the players into pairs. One person is the guide (instruction giver) and the other person is the subject.
Step Two: Choose three or four pairs to start the game and ask them to stand together. Give one player in each group a blindfold or simply ask them to close their eyes.
Step Three: Explain the task each pair must complete. For example, the subject may need to walk across the room, sit down and draw a picture of Australia. Tip: This is a great opportunity to link the game to your current topic!
Step Four: On ‘Go’, the guide must give verbal instructions to the subject. The subject must follow them to the letter. For example, the guide might say ‘walk forward four steps’, ‘pull out the chair’ and so on.
Step Five: The round ends when each pair has successfully completed the task. Tip: Teachers, this is a great ice breaker for that long INSET or training day!
